CD Digipacks were one of the first development moves into eco packaging for the format and are still a market leader decades on. Compact Discs themselves are made from polycarbonate and are therefore not the least impacting product in our world. When Jewel Cases were recognised as adding to a negative environmental impact as the 80's turned into the more world conscientious 90s, Digipacks arrived as a solution to cut down plastic and maximise artwork options.
The format reduced plastic use in the product to a single glued in tray to hold the disc and the CD itself with printed cardboard wrapping over or around for protection. Using a folded template for strength in double walling each panel it provides enough structure for shrink wrapping or cello wrapping and enough protection for the disc/s. Some believe the format was inspired by the 1985 CD release of "around the world in a day" by Prince which was believed to have been designed to be deliberately plastic-less to harmonise more with the vinyl LP.
Our CDs in Digipacks are available in either 4 or 6 panel versions with options for booklets. Our Digipacks are printed, die cut and glued on site along with automatic tray placing for the highest quality available. We have an extensive range of options so if you can't see what you need here just get in touch and we will be able to help and advice.
